Sponsoring the Team's Shortest Player
I wondered why do you see some shorter players on the middle school teams but rarely see them in high school? Do the coaches making the cuts get more aggressive in weeding out the kids that were not fortunate enought to get a significant enough growth spurt? When I started following Eckstein's team one of the smallest players was able to compete with many taller opponents. He was one of my favorite players to watch because you don't expect the little guy to go anywhere near as far! It shows their work ethic.
For those that really believe in meritocracies a short basketball player should still have an opportunity to go up against bigger teammates. In fact if they succeed it says something about their character that we could not exactly say about an equally good athlete that is much taller. They went against the odds. Those are the kind of important lessons you learn in school sports even if you do not become a professional athlete.
I noticed that as of Sunday the 14th he still hasn't reached the goal. There is still four days left. https://org.eteamsponsor.com/ETS/supportUs/685088052?fund_participant_id=685706858
